-The gunmen also succeeded in freeing seven suspected armed robbers
An inspector with the Kwabenya Police in Accra has died at the Police Hospital after being shot by gunmen who attacked the station Sunday dawn.

YEN.com.gh understands that the gunmen stormed the station at about 2:00am to free some seven suspected armed robbers who were being held at the station.
According to information we have gathered, the suspects were expected to be arraigned within the coming week for various offences relating to armed robbery.
But the gunmen succeeded in breaking them out of cells after accosting police officers on duty shooting the inspector in the process.
Reports suggest the yet to be Inspector Ashilevi, believed to be in his 40s, was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he died later.
The gunmen and the freed suspects are reported to have fled the scene in an unregistered car while they fired warning shots sporadically.
